We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your data. This policy explains what data the Athab Al-Tilawa platform, website and app collect, how they are used and protected, and your rights over them, in accordance with the legislation in force in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, including the Personal Data Protection Law.
1. The data we collect
Account data
Your phone number (verified by a code sent by text message), your name, anything you choose to add such as an email address, country and city, or a profile photo, and your preferred language.
Eligibility and verification data
Your date of birth and gender when a competition requires them, and an image of an identity document when a track requires a verified date of birth.
Entries
The recorded recitations and performances you upload, the details and results of your applications, and any appeals you submit.
Usage and device data
Technical logs needed to run and protect the service, such as IP address, device and browser type and sign-in times, and the device token needed to send notifications if you enable them.
Location
Prayer times and the qibla direction are calculated on your device, and your location coordinates are not sent to our servers. You can choose your city manually instead of using your location.
2. How we use your data
- To create your account, sign you in and verify your phone number.
- To receive your applications, check your eligibility and verify your identity where needed.
- To judge entries, announce results and award prizes.
- To send notifications about your applications and the competitions.
- To protect the platform, prevent fraud and misuse, and meet legal obligations.
- To improve the service using aggregated statistics that do not identify you.
We do not sell your data or use it for targeted advertising.
3. Who we share your data with
- Committees and judges: they see the entries and only the data needed to judge them.
- Organising and sponsoring bodies: such as Jordan Television and the Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, to the extent needed to organise the competitions, announce their results and provide media coverage, in line with each competition’s conditions.
- Technical service providers: such as Google’s Firebase services for phone verification and notifications, and hosting and infrastructure providers. They are bound to protect the data and may not use it for their own purposes.
- Public authorities: where the law requires it.
4. What is made public
Winners’ names and results, and excerpts of winning entries, may be published on the platform and by the sponsors to announce results and for media coverage, in line with each competition’s conditions. Identity documents, phone numbers and data collected for verification are never published.
5. Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Competition records and results are kept for archiving, documentation and settling appeals, and technical and security logs for as long as needed to protect the platform. Data is deleted or anonymised once it is no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep it.
6. Protecting your data
We use encrypted connections, role-based access controls, two-step verification for administrative accounts, and automatic scanning of uploaded files. Recordings and identity documents are stored privately and are accessible only to authorised people. No system, however, can guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights
- To access your data and request a copy of it.
- To correct and update your data; most of it can be edited from your account page.
- To request deletion of your account and data, subject to what must be kept by law or to document competition results.
- To withdraw your consent to notifications, or to any processing based on consent, at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the official channels published on the platform.
8. Minors
People under 18 may register and take part only with the consent and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who may exercise the rights above on their behalf.
9. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies that are necessary for signing in, protecting your session and remembering your language. The app stores some preferences on your device, such as your language and chosen city. We do not use advertising cookies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be published on this page with its date, and we will let you know of significant changes through the platform.
11. Contact
For any question about your privacy or your data, contact us through the official channels published on the platform.
